The Rage of the Stage Players, a Pittsburgh-based theatre group dedicated to offbeat stage productions including horror, mature fantasy, and black comedy, will be holding open auditions for our gritty, real-world, stage version of Lewis Carroll’s "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland" (Slated for September 2006).
The show will feature an ensemble cast of highly adaptable actors and actresses, some of which may be called upon to play several roles. Physicality, and a strong sense of creativity are all essential, but you needn’t be an expert or stage veteran to audition. We welcome any and all (18 years of age and up) who are intrigued, open-minded, and willing to work hard. Gothic, emo, fantasy, vampire, punk, and beyond...we welcome every personality and background.
Please note that this is NOT a children’s production. It will be dark and feature
harsh themes such as violence, murder, and sexual situations...clearly not appropriate for all audiences.
SEARCHING FOR THESE TYPES (Other characters available, but are currently undetermined.)
Alice - a very young looking, innocent, Catholic school-girl type. Smaller in build.
Sister – a nun.
The White Rabbit – A vicious skater punk. Sinewy, or thin. Experience on a skateboard a plus, but not exclusive.
Mr. Pillar – (a.k.a. The Caterpillar) Carter Pillar, a pathetic, old bookstore owner, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
Dutch – (a.k.a. The Duchess) A gruff bar owner.
Chester – (a.k.a. The Cheshire Cat) Dutch’s disfigured, outcast, drug addicted son.
The Hatter – A mentally ill homeless person. The Hatter will also have to be able to portray other personalities (i.e. voices)…specifically, the characters of the March Hare and the Dormouse.
Two, Five, and Seven of Hearts – Several attractive escorts (male and/or female) in a sex club.
The Queen of Hearts – The dominatrix-proprietor of a sex club called “The Stacked Deck.” She is sadistic and beautiful.
Nathan - (a.k.a. The Knave of Hearts) A sexually indiscriminate young employee of the Queen of Hearts. A “David Bowie” type.
Mr. Griffin – (a.k.a. The Gryphon) A client of the Queen of Hearts. He has a taste for much younger girls.
